The Game Awards 2022 event witnessed tons of announcements and new updates about some of the most popular IPs in the world. However, PlayStation succeeded in gaining a lot of attention, thanks to multiple reveals for the future, including a PC port of the iconic The Last of Us game.

Technically, PC players will receive the most advanced version of the decade-old PlayStation exclusive. The Last of Us Part I PC port eventually received its release date as well during The Game Awards. With that, the makers also announced its price tag, which will be $60 when it arrives in March 2023.

But is this much money really justified? Will it be worth buying after almost ten years?

Why should you purchase The Last of Us Part I on a PC for $60?

PlayStation’s big announcement of the epic game’s arrival on the PC platform was followed by an official blog from Naughty Dog. It details all the relevant information, as of now, needed for those who are interested in having it next year. According to the website, the port will be available on Steam and also on the Epic Games Store for $59.99.

Now it is already known that The Last of Us Part I is the most upgraded, enhanced version of the original game that launched way back in 2013. Keeping that point in mind, the price tag of $59.99 might be too much for some people who were thinking it to be less than what’s been mentioned.

However, one should note that most of the recent first-party releases from PlayStation in 2022 have been launched for PC with a similar figure. From God of War to the recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, all the PC ports are available for around the $60 mark or close. So that’s the strategy of Sony when it comes to offering PS exclusives for players having PCs. It won’t change for now.

The PC port of The Last of Us Part I is expected to boast amazing features to make it beautiful

Another reason for The Last of Us Part I having a price this high is due to the improvements and fresh features expected to be introduced for PC gamers. It’s a known fact that most of the AAA titles generally end up being great on the computer since there are many options to make the overall experience feel amazing. In general, players get a lot of customization options, to say the least.

The same will be the case with The Last of Us Part I, going by the remake‘s launch in September for PS5. That version had tons of additions in terms of gameplay and enhancements in graphics. Hence, the PC port will probably end up having a similar treatment, along with more new options when it makes its way on March 3, 2023.

So even if some fans are currently disappointed with the price tag, they might get compelled by the overall upgrade, especially comparing the latest version with its decade-old counterpart.
