Keivonn Woodard’s the ‘Last of Us’ Character Sam Is Quite Different From the Game Version of the Teen Boy

The Last of Us series is continuing its successful run with more and more new characters from the game making their entry into the HBO series. The show is also receiving rave remarks regarding the character tweaks they are bringing in.
The recent episode of the series marked yet another tweak. In Episode 5 “Endure and Survive” fans got to witness the introduction of Henry and Sam into the narrative. But for the fans who have encountered the duo in the game, a change surely will have caught your eyes, especially regarding Sam.

The most recent among these is in regard to the character Sam. He is portrayed to be deaf. Interestingly, the character which was portrayed in the game was not. The character Sam went through creative liberties and thus was cast to be a hearing-impaired character. And the highlighting part about this is that Keivonn Woodard, the actor who plays the role of Sam has the same impairment that the character has.
Once again The Last of Us show has divulged into diversity inclusion through its narrative. Fans were seen praising the performance put up by Woodard while he portrayed the character in the narrative.
Fans love the character Sam
Sam becomes closely acquainted with Ellie and they both become friends in a jiffy. This newfound friend of Ellie has been adored by the audience who watched the show and were showering praises on the young actor.

Apart from his first stint as an actor, Woodard is also an avid hockey fan. Moreover, the young talent is a Hockey player in Maryland.

Another interesting fact about the inclusion of Woodard in the show is that many of the cast and crew learned the American sign language. This was to make the new actor feel comfortable with all the proceedings during the shoots. This is yet another wholesome gesture from the team.
