When the Assassin’s Creed franchise initially came out, fans could not get enough of it. They dove headfirst into the fluid parkour mechanics and narrative experience that have since become the identity of the franchise. As time went on, the need for more content with each game grew. Similar to other games, DLC became a big part of the picture, eventually turning into a staple addition to each game. Developers of Assassin’s Creed Mirage have big news on this front.

Creative Director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage Stephane Boudon and other members of the team revealed there are no plans to release DLC for the game at launch or after it.

While a 20-hour game is plenty of content to play through, a fan favorite such as Assassin’s Creed usually has fans wanting more. As a result, it became a valuable addition to the game, bringing new areas, equipment, and missions for players to play through.

However, with Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it does not look like there is any DLC planned during or after launch. The news came after the developers of the game answered questions on a Reddit AMA. Creative Director Stephane Boudon, as well as Sarah Beaulieu and Jean-Luc Sala, answered several questions the community had about the newest entry. The post expressly mentions there is no content planned at or after the launch at the moment. It says, “For now, Mirage has no plan for DLC or extensive post-launch.”

For some fans, this news may not be a surprise. Assassin’s Creed Mirage promised a return to its roots, with a smaller world alongside a shorter storyline. Compared to previous games, Mirage will be on par with Syndicate in terms of its size.

This brings fans to the most puzzling aspect. Other games in the franchise similar to Mirage in size each had DLC. For context, Syndicate and Unity, similar to Mirage on its scale, each had a full expansion of its own. Consequently, most fans expect DLC for Mirage to come quite some time after launch. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla saw loads of DLC content released months after its release. Moreover, Ubisoft is known to not reveal plans for expansions, as seen with Assassin’s Creed 3. This could mean DLC still is on the distant horizon.

This means the fluid parkour from Ezio’s games could be back. However, it does come with a small catch. Features such as the back ejects and the side ejects were not included in Mirage. While disappointing to some, developers promised to maintain the feeling of fluidity in the game.
