CD Projekt RED is on the roll. Aside from fixing Cyberpunk 2077 and bringing fans back to it, they are about to release a next-gen upgrade for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on December 14. And they also recently announced a Remake of their first Witcher game.

The Remake is currently in the early development phase at Fool’s Theory development studio. This studio was founded by an ex-CD Projekt RED employee. The developer would be using Unreal Engine 5 to develop the game. And unlike the original, it would be an open-world game. This news really took the gaming community by storm a while ago.

There’s a crowd of people who have yet to experience the first Witcher game. This Remake would be a great way for them to start with it. But everyone looking forward to playing this game might have a long time between them and this new game.

Recently in CD Projekt RED’s third-quarter financial report, president and joint CEO Adam Kiciński revealed that The Witcher Remake would be coming after Polaris which is the codename for The Witcher 4. The reason for this late release is that the remake would be using technologies that would be developed for The Witcher 4. Basically, both games would be developed in a parallel manner. But it looks like the progress of the Remake would mostly depend on that of Witcher 4.

He specifically said “Coming back to The Witcher Remake and when it will come, yes, it will come after Polaris (The Witcher 4), which is a consequence of how we think about this project. I think that The Witcher Remake will be based in big part on technologies from Polaris, so it will be developed partially in parallel to Polaris, but once Polaris is launched, everything for Polaris will be then in the final shape, and it will be partially reused in the remake.”

This revelation about Witcher Remake has fans disappointed

After this news came about, fans eagerly waiting for this game have been disappointed. They took to Reddit to point out how long CD project red usually takes to develop games. Some said probably their grandchildren would be playing the remake. While others suggest that this kind of thing is good for the development of the game. The longer it takes to develop, there would be less chance it disappoints fans.
