Sony’s PlayStation 5 has smashed records worldwide. The latest console released by Sony is the fastest-selling console in U.S. history in both unit and dollar sales. It quite recently hit 1 million sales in the United Kingdom. The PlayStation 5 boasts serious hardware as well.

Up until now, owners of 4K TVs were the only ones who could truly enjoy the visual experience the PlayStation 5 has to offer. However, with an upcoming update, it seems that everyone will get to appreciate the graphical capabilities of the PS5.

Sony is rolling out Variable Refresh Rate updates to its TVs. This indicates Sony might have plans to activate the VVR regardless of the TV the PlayStation console is connected to.

Variable Refresh Rate and the PlayStation update

Variable Refresh Rate or VRR is a mechanic that enables TVs to change their refresh rates in a fluid and synchronous manner. Until now, Most TVs work at a fixed 30fps or 60fps. However, with the introduction of this update, the TVs are not limited to just these two fixed points. With the update, TVs can sync their refresh rate with the console. This leads them to stop causing the tearing and other graphical issues.
