Sony has started tweaking hardware issues in the PlayStation 5 in the last few months. The current looming issue at hand makes it impossible for PS4 and PS3 games to run in PS5. This means that the consoles’ clock battery (CMOS) dies and blocks players from connecting to Sony servers.
While this has been affecting digital games at this moment, Sony has now decided to fix this issue with its new firmware update.

Sony fixes the CMOS issue in PlayStation consoles
Earlier, IGN had explained in their report that this issue was a looming concern that would make players resort to methods of piracy in order to play their favorite games.
Destruction Games recently reported on Twitter that Sony has fixed the CMOS issue, which prevented PS4 users from playing digital or disc games if the CMOS died. After this update, people will be able to play games even with a dead CMOS as well.
