Rockstar Games Co-Founder Reveals How GTA III Changed the Company’s Fortunes

It’s been 20 years since GTA III came out and revolutionized the concept of open word games. And even today fans can’t stop talking about this iconic game. Rockstar Games released the Grand Theft Auto III on 22 Oct 2001 and took the whole gaming industry to a whole new level.

This game also changed the fortune of its official developer, Rockstar Games. In fact, there’s no doubt saying that it’s because of this game; Rockstar Games is what it is today. So, on this occasion, co-founders of the Rockstar Games, Jamie King, threw some light on this game.

On the 6th of Dec 2021, one YouTube channel that goes by the name of “killazspain” shared a video. This video is an interview with the Rockstar Games’ co-founder Jamie King. This video features a lot of details about different projects of Rockstar Games like Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Red Dead Redemption, Max Payne, and many more. Jamie also discusses the entire journey of Rockstar Games and its takeover by Take-Two Interactive.

“I mean it was great, in the sense that there was tremendous validation with GTA III because we’ve been grinding on GTA I, London, 2 and we weren’t really like crossing it over and it wasn’t resonating the was GTA III did. The day after the GTA III came out, we had to make vice city in a year. We had to help Remedy and 3D Realms and finish Max Payne, which is also like an amazing game that I got to work on. From the vibe and the bullet time and the noir and the snow.”  

It looks like GTA III was one of the biggest successes for the developers as well. Because they finally achieved that validation, after years of hard work that they all have put in GTA I, London, and GTA 2.
