With Sony having a healthy stake in FromSoftware, fans are speculating a massive announcement in the upcoming PlayStation showcase.

In the past few years, gaming companies have been on an acquisition spree. The idea behind this has been to have more IPs under a single roof while expanding the expertise across different genres. Some popular examples include Sony acquiring Bungie – the masterminds behind Destiny. But that’s the whole idea of it.

On the other hand, franchises have also opted to have a stake in small-time studios, giving them the right platform for publishing. A popular case of this can be explained by the Sony x FromSoftware deal, where the former added a good stake. And for that, fans have speculated a possible project/IP to drop anytime soon.

To talk numbers, Sony grabbed 14.1% of FromSoftware, whereas Tencent settled 16.3%. And still, a large amount was reserved for the parent company from Japan, Kadowkawa Corporation.

Starring Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal, the series was an instant hit on the internet. So, with the PlayStation Showcase on its way, fans started hoping for a massive announcement.
