The PlayStation Showcase exhibited many titles for gamers to be excited about. And, the presentation that stole the show was revealed last. Insomniac’s announcement of the Spider-Man 2 gameplay reveal took the Internet by storm. It brought back the friendly neighborhood superhero, donning the symbiote suit in the trailer.

Following the event, Yuri Lowenthal, the actor playing Spider-Man, appeared at a panel at the MomoCon 2023 on May 27. He revealed that there is much more for fans to see in terms of Spider-Man in the symbiote suit.

Spider-Man’s colorful suit foreshadowed

The symbiote suit’s appearance was a running theory among fans. It is one of the most iconic parts of the story. Some fans were concerned about what the suit meant for the possibility of Venom as a villain.

Lowenthal made some revelations about what the suit means for our superhero, speaking, “We took extra special care for when Spidey is just regular go-happy-lucky Spidey and when Spidey gets something going on. And there’s a lot of colors. You saw some of them in the trailer they just dropped, but you ain’t seen nothing yet. We had to find the levels and we have to root it all in, even though it’s not a real thing, we need to be rooted in reality.”

Lowenthal revealed the changes in Peter’s change in behavior after he bonds with the symbiote. Some fans theorize that the colors of the symbiote suit could reflect Peter’s behavior. As he gets more aggressive, his bond with the symbiote will get stronger and the suit will change color to look less like the classic Spider-Man suit patterns.

He revealed that their team took extra care while differentiating Peter before and after bonding with the symbiote provides a strong possibility of colors being used to show the difference. As fans may already know, the varied suits in the previous game meant the player could access different abilities. The different colors could open up a whole new way of being Spider-Man!

Changes in Peter Parker’s behavior after bonding with the symbiote

Fans saw during the trailer, the suit wasn’t the only different thing about Peter. The way he behaved changed, becoming more aggressive and angry. Miles notices this as Peter snaps at Miles during a conversation. It is a step away from their usual dynamic where Peter treats Miles with care, almost like an older brother.

Peter’s approach when it comes to fighting Kraven’s followers is different from Spidey’s normal way. Usually, he makes jokes, whereas, with the symbiote suit, the anger reflects in his voice. It will be an interesting plotline in the game, especially with Pete and Miles’ dynamic. With the release in Fall 2023, only time will tell where the story takes us.
