Nintendo Switch, in all its splendor, is quite old at this point. The Console has been out for around five years now. This may not seem very much, but in the world of consoles, it is considered a very long period. As the competitors such as Xbox and PlayStation have already released their Next-Gen systems, there hasn’t been much information from Nintendo about their next console or upgraded versions of Switch.

And as time goes on, the fan-favorite Nintendo Switch is slowly and steadily losing its place and relevance in the gaming industry. The features that were once deemed revolutionary are now considered useless in the modern era of 2022.

5. IR Camera:

On the bottom side of the right Joy-Con, users can notice a small black screen. Behind this screen lies the IR camera of the system. At the launch of the system, this camera had a lot of attention from the community, as it was promised that the camera was capable of detecting player movement. Which in turn will make way for a variety of interactive games. But unfortunately, Nintendo only used the camera for a handful of games, and as time went on, the feature was completely forgotten.

4. Joy-Cons and Joy-Con Drift

Adding to the pile of Joy-Con issues, the one problem that is persistent in every corner of the community is the Joy-Con drift. For years fans have complained about the drifting problem of the Joy-Con with not many fixes offered by the company. While talking on the matter, the Joy-Cons itself hasn’t seen many updates either. Ever since the release of the system, the variants offered for the controller sticks have been very limited.

3. Switch eShop

Compared to its predecessor Wii U, the interface of the Nintendo Switch eShop is very much a mess. The former had an easy-to-navigate interface with a frequently updated catalog, but alas, it has become a memory of the past, as the newer version of the modern console has taken the reverse road. As the Switch eShop is laggy, cluttered with semi-good games, and is overall a pain to navigate.

2. Lack of Apps

While the other consoles offer a plethora of apps, all varying from streaming, entertainment, and other services, the Nintendo Switch is very limited in the apps sector as it doesn’t offer most of the essential addon apps or any streaming apps other than Hulu and Twitch.

1. Lack of User Interface customizations

The Switch has a user interface that is completely bare to bones. The system only has very limited themes in the default, and there is no option for downloading or installing more. Fans have been requesting an update of the UI but there has been no development in that section except for the addition of the folders feature in the recent update. Which is also barely usable.
