Although, if played for some time, players will realize how addictive and how fun the game actually is. It can take some time to know the mechanics of the game at first, but once you are in it, there is no turning back. This is especially with the fact that the game has a really special type of mechanics that brought the RPG elements to not humans but war machines.

Wario Land

A game so absurd that it has to be called a gem. Wario Land was the official spin-off of Super Mario by Nintendo itself. Wario Land is the official name of the 3rd installment of the Super Mario Land franchise and introduces Wario as our main character, and also the first game to feature him as a playable character.

The game was weirdly good to play and despite having the same aesthetic as Super Mario, told a totally different story. It is also the game where you can’t tell if you root for the character or not, such was the impact of this 1994 platformer for GameBoy.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem

A horror game that took the genre to a level that no other game of that era was even close to reaching it. The game had a horrific vibe and was the big daddy of every silent hill type horror game.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem was even regarded as the best horror game of that year and was nominated or awarded for its amazing gameplay even after that.

Notably, Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem also added a bunch load of new mechanics to it, like the Sanity meter that is now used in all the top-tier horror games. Developed by Silicon Knights, and played on GameCube, the game is not just a gem, but also a masterpiece as well.

Chibi-Robo!

It’s okay if you don’t know this game, or have totally forgotten it by now, but remember this, it was way better than most AAA games that come out these days. Chibi-Robo! was a different kind of beast of a game that was released in 2005 and was a personal kind of project by Japanese game designing genius and Nintendo producer Shigeru Miyamoto.

Chibi-Robo! was based on a 10 cm, or 3.9-inch robot toy that had a power plug for a tail. The robot was tasked with several household choruses to make the lives of the Sanderson family and many other toys easier. It was basically a child-like imagination of a game, that if compared to modern-day games can be equally weighted with It Takes Two.

Box Boy!

A classic-looking Nintendo game that never received the love or respect that it should have. Box Boy! is a real traditional puzzle platformer that forgoes the story of our protagonist box Qbby, that creates a string of boxes to move in the environment and solves puzzles to advance in the levels.

Notably, the game was made by the famed game-developing studio HAL Laboratories, famously known for developing Kirby games. Also, the reason behind Box Boy! not getting love was Kirby too, as the game was developed just as a side project by the studio and was not launched or marketed well. Thus forgotten by everyone over the course of time. Additionally, BoxBoy can also be called the first iteration of Super Meat Boy.
