Top Valorant Esports Teams Will Compete for $600K Prize Pool at Champions Tour Reykjavík

After two months of regional Challengers events, players will finally get to experience “the first international LAN tournament for VALORANT.” The tournament goes by the name of Valorant Champions Tour Reykjavik. “More than 2000 teams from seven different regions attempted to qualify for the event, but just 10 will compete in Iceland.”
Recently, Riot unveiled the rulebook, prize pool, and tournament structure for the Masters. The tournament will feature the top 10 Valorant teams in the world. They will battle it out in a double-elimination style of the tournament for a crack at a piece of the $600,000 prize pool.
Valorant Champions Tour will take place over a week starting May 24 and culminating on May 30. The teams will compete in a best-of-three series right up to the grand finals which will be a best of five series. Furthermore, each team will earn a minimum of $15,000 alongside Circuit Points based on their placement in the tournament.

The $600,000 prize pool for the ten teams will be split as follows:
First: $200,000.00
Second: $100,000.00
Third: $80,000.00
Fourth: $60,000.00
Fifth: $40,000.00
Sixth: $40,000.00
Seventh: $25,000.00
Eighth: $25,000.00
Ninth: $15,000.00
10th: $15,000.00

The first two matches of the tournament will see Fnatic face KRU Esports and Version1 take on Crazy Racoon. In the upper bracket of the tournament, Team Vikings will battle it out with X10 Esports, while Ying Sharks will hope to defeat NUTURN. Lastly, Sentinels will face the victor of the match between Fnatic vs. KRU, while Team Liquid will face either V1 vs. Crazy Racoon, depending on who comes out on top.

Valorant’s version 2.09 patch will apply to the upcoming tournament. The new patch reduces the effect of the instant decay inflicted when walking through Viper’s smoke or wall. Instant decay will now deal 30 damage compared to its previous 50.
