Is CS2 better than ever now? The release of the sequel to the FPS classic Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been under community scrutiny ever since its release. It released in September 2023 and, contrary to the expectations, left the FPS fanatics divided in response. Many were led to believe that Valve has only been trying to catch up to the standards since. But with a recent update, Valve might have fixed the most talked about issue in the game.

For over a year, CS: GO has been among the pioneers of FPS gaming. While the fans were looking forward to the long-awaited sequel, the skepticism around a rather underwhelming experience seemed pretty obvious. When CS2 released, a lot of fans had even debated if Valve launched the game too early. With constant updates, makers have been trying to cater to the demands of hardcore CS fans. Now, this latest change introduced in CS2 is being hailed as the “best change” Valve made since the game’s launch.

CS2 gets the “input-lag” fixed, which means no more delayed animations!

A video going viral on social media claims that the new update in the game has fixed the input lag issue from the game. According to this claim, the animation feedback is nearer to the time when you do an action (1 frame). The visual and audio feedback from sub-tick input—such as movement acceleration and muzzle flashes—will now always render on the next frame’. Here’s a video of the comparison before and after the change.

It is important to note that the game still continues to function with the subtick system that received most of the criticism from the fans. While CS: GO started out running at 64 Hz, CS2 included a new sub-tick system format to improve first-person shooter fans’ immersive experience.

For those unaware, in every game, the tick rate describes how quickly the server responds to a player’s update. The gameplay feels smoother with a higher tick rate. Faster movements and less lag time are associated with a greater tick rate.

Meanwhile, the subtick seems to persist in the gameplay. The latest alleged fix brought by Valve has been received well by the gamers. Moreover, with some big CS tournaments coming up in the future, there couldn’t have been a better time to resolve the input lag.

Fans hail praises for the change

A user originally started the discussion on Reddit after observing the change late at night. As expected, the video invited a lot of excited reactions from the players, as they couldn’t stop praising the latest update.

A user looking forward to some more positive changes in the near future, wrote,Easily the best change volvo has made since CS2’s official launch. Hopefully more such changes come in before the major cycle starts in ~2 months.”

Another player is delighted that Valve has started adhering to the fan demands as the problem was being called out for a long time. This has really been an excellent update, where Valve actually listened to what players are saying. I hope we see more like this,” they wrote.

I just hope this sub is ready for moments where they fire the bullet but the shot won’t register because they were already dead on the server. The new update will bring a lot of these moments,” a user expressing concerns that might arise after the new update wrote.

Fans are satisfied with the update but rooting for the next one already! Alright, good update. Now they just need to fix the networking delay, which is an even bigger issue,” a user stated.
