A big story leading up to the announcement of Modern Warfare III was the return of Verdansk. The iconic Warzone map was a favorite, before being replaced by Caldera. However, fans hoped to see it return in the newest entry in the series. Call of Duty teased players with glimpses of the map. Areas such as Prison and Stadium had moments in the trailer. The first bit of concrete proof was the trailer.

As it turns out, Verdansk will not be making a return to multiplayer with Modern Warfare III. It will only be available for Warzone mobile.

Back in 2019 when Verdansk came out, fans could not get enough of it. It became highly popular among the player base. It is not all bad news for Verdansk fans though. The trailer confirmed Verdansk would be a part of the main game, meaning Campaign missions will see players shoot through Verdansk. The trailer and gameplay footage showed extensive gameplay on the map, with devs adding a new feature, Open Combat Missions. They give players the independence to choose how they proceed through the story, making for a vivid gameplay experience. It also adds a replay value as players may want to choose different routes.

While the map is in the campaign, signs point towards Verdansk being massively scaled down. Instead of the huge map players were used to running around, missions will take place on a small part of the map. Prison seems like a very solid bet, especially since the trailer had footage from the area.
