Was Modern Warfare II’s Fifth Raid Removed for a Call of Duty 2023 Event in Warzone?

After more than eight months of release, Call of Duty Modern Warfare II has mostly failed in keeping the players engaged. The bugs, movement mechanics, and the overall pacing of this entry have disappointed majority of the franchise lovers.

Now, everyone is looking forward to this year’s rumored Modern Warfare III. Fans are expecting it to be a resurrection for the series which has constantly been suffering for the last two years. While the upcoming game is yet to be officially revealed, strong speculations are already floating across the internet. One of them has indicated a connection between Activision’s new premium and a unique mode from the existing title.

Did Call of Duty remove Raid 5 from Modern Warfare II due to its possible connection with 2023’s Modern Warfare III?

Raids mode was added to MWII last year as a one-of-its-kind experience. Players are required to assemble a team of three real human individuals to take on a given quest and uncover the mysteries eventually at the end. So far, there have been a total of four Raids in the entire game. Initially, the devs announced a total of five Episodes featuring various missions. However, with the arrival of Season 4 last month, they mentioned that the fourth Raid will be the last one.

Recently, a popular CoD insider, known as TheGhostOfHope on Twitter, came up with a theory on Raids. According to him, there might be a bigger reason for why the fifth Raid was removed. Per his speculation, it’s got to do something with Call of Duty 2023.

Hope wrote in their tweet: “I wonder if Raid 5 was canned for an MWIII live event in Warzone? Obviously Raids weren’t doing well but to cancel it likely means other content replaced it as it was more important.”

Basically, the scooper has tried to present a possibility that maybe the fifth Raid is highly crucial. So much so, that it got removed from MWII’s roadmap completely. And that it’s been done so that the devs can work on integrating it inside a live event to reveal Modern Warfare III during Warzone – probably next month.
