Kick is an online streaming platform, released in coordination with the gambling site, Stakes. Ever since the launch of the website, it has been a hot topic of discussion in streaming circles. With its alluring revenue share and lax guidelines, Kick emerged as a self-proclaimed rival of Twitch

While experts still believe, the platform is “unsustainable”, the people behind the company boast that it is completely self-reliant and has a bright long future up ahead. Recently, the official Twitter page of the platform shared a screenshot, flaunting the fact that their website has surpassed the NBA and Dominos’ websites in terms of traffic.

Kick boasts more visitors than NBA, Dominos, SoundCloud, and more

On April 27, 2023, the official Twitter page of Kick shared a screenshot with the caption, “Four months in and we’re just getting started.” In the Tweet, they revealed that Kick is currently ranking #189 among all the domains in the USA, in terms of traffic. They also showcased that two big names of the American culture, NBA and Dominos are standing way lower than that. 

NBA is ranked 211 and Dominos is at 229. In the replies to the Tweet, Kick threw a jab at the global pizza giant by writing, “yo dominos can I get a large pepperoni with cheesy stuffed crust.” However, the self-proclaimed arch-nemesis is still very far away. According to the data by Semrush, Twitch currently ranked 43 in the US, 146 ranks higher than Kick.

Kick is the online streaming platform that offers an unbelievable 95/5 revenue split between the creator and the platform, which is significantly higher than Twitch. While the stakeholders of Kick boast that their policies are very sustainable and they will be true to them for a long time, experts think otherwise. 

What do experts think about Kick’s business practices?

A few months ago, one of the co-founders of Kick, Ed Craven aka Eddie, gave a public interview to a streamer named Big E. In the interview, he said in high confidence that, “us as a company, we are not worried about sustainability.” But the experts in the industry did not match this confidence

The former Twitch engineer, Cyrus Hall pointed out that not only does Kick only take 5% revenue share from their streamers, but are also “subsidizing Twitch by paying to use the Twitch video system via AWS” and it is “not a sustainable growth plan.” In the end, Cyrus concluded that Kick is nothing but a big front to attract new customers to their online casino, Stakes.
