Fans of fighting games are currently buzzing with excitement over the announcement of the upcoming reboot of Mortal Kombat 1. This new installment not only resets the Mortal Kombat universe but also fulfills a long-standing request from fans. Introducing a skin that hits right in the nostalgia part of our hearts.

Mortal Kombat has a diverse set of characters, from gods to superhuman ninjas and literal four-armed monsters. Among them, one of the characters that is the most “human” is Johnny Cage. Portrayed as a Hollywood actor and skilled martial artist, Cage joins the Mortal Kombat tournament in search of fame and to help save the world. 

Interestingly, Johnny Cage’s character took inspiration from real-life Hollywood superstar Jean-Claude Van Damme. Finally, after three decades, the developers at NetherRealm Studios have decided to pay homage to the original inspiration by introducing a skin that resembles Van Damme within the game.

In addition to the excitement surrounding the game, rumors have been circulating about an upcoming Mortal Kombat film. According to these rumors, Johnny Cage will make his debut on the silver screen, portrayed by actor Karl Urban from “The BOYS.” Fans expect this new movie to serve as a direct sequel to the 2021 MK adaptation. The movie will be directed by Simon McQuoid and produced by James Wan, Todd Garner, Simon McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh.

The production of MK 2 is in the hands of James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions, Simon McQuoid, and E. Bennett Walsh. Simon himself shared this news on Twitter, further fueling anticipation and raising the likelihood of its confirmation.
