Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Gets a Speedrun Record Already, Speedrunner Affirms Absence of Prequel’s Glitches

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has become the talk of the town. Not to mention, it’s one of the most anticipated games of 2023. Moreover, TOTK’s predecessor is still considered one of the best games of all time.Not to mention, Zelda: Breath of the Wild recently ranked top spot for the 100 Greatest Games Of All Time.

While TOTK will indeed be the biggest launch for Nintendo in 2023, fans are dying to get their hands on the title. Surprisingly, within just a few hours after its release, a Zelda fanatic set a speed-run record for the game.

Owing to TOTK’s perfect review score, the future of the Zelda franchise already seems to be skyrocketing. And the recent speed-run record, just after hours of release, proves TOTK’s immense hype among fans. Zelda Speedrunner gymnast86 has posted a time of 1:34:33 for a full-speed run of the game. Not to mention, the player was able to end the game without the use of any amiibo.

Regardless, considering the large open-world size of the game, it’s indeed a notable feat for the player to set a 94-minute speed-run record. Moreover, in a separate video, the speed-runner discussed his experience and shared some exciting tricks for other players to follow. He also mentioned that Nintendo has fixed most glitches from Breath of the Wild.

He said, “From what we can tell, almost none of the glitches that were present in Breath of the Wild seem to have made it into Tears of the Kingdom.” The speedrunner further explained that, even though most glitches are fixed, it doesn’t mean players can’t use them.

He added, “That doesn’t necessarily mean that we won’t ever be able to perform these glitches, but just that the methods we know of activating them in Breath of the Wild won’t work in this game.”
