Israel Adesanya is still hung up with an incident that took place 6 years back in a kickboxing ring involving his rival Alex Pereira. While the middleweight champion buried his ghosts from the past at UFC 287, he also jumped on an opportunity to get back at the Brazilian fighter’s son.

Adesanya’s UFC 287 inside-the-ring shenanigans included an array of celebrations, an uplifting speech, and acrobatics. Mixed with a bit of dancing as well, his celebration ceremony in the Octagon was an entertainment package. However, ‘The Last Stylebender’ stirred some headlines when one of his celebrations, directed at Pereira’s son, went viral. Despite facing a backlash for mocking Pereira’s son, the New Zealander didn’t shy away to add another chapter to the ongoing saga.

Israel Adesanya hits back at Alex Pereira’s son
Notably, the 33-year-old imitated the manner in which ‘Poatan’ fell frozen on the mat. He pulled off the derisive gesture and pointed it out to Pereira’s son. The Kiwi, therefore, alluded to the celebration the kid performed 6 years back when Pereira knockout out Adesanya in their second matchup in Glory.

Adesanya shared the clip of the incident on his Instagram handle and penned a sardonic message. The caption read “”don’t react, respond”. …even if it’s 6 years later.”

Markedly, this was not his first attempt to remind fans he settled the scores, and the karma completed its cycle.

When Adesanya imparted words of wisdom to Pereira’s son
In a recent tweet, the 24-2 record holder shared a video of Pereira traveling with his sons. In the clip, Pereira narrated his knockout win against Adesanya. Additionally, his elder son mentioned how he mimicked the fallen Adesanya after hitting himself with a bottle.
The middleweight kingpin thus had a piece of advice for him as he wrote, “Always respect your elders.”

Markedly, the former kickboxer is on the lookout for a new challenge after returning to the top. While he has cleaned up the division and especially the top-5 ranked fighters, his heated exchanges with #6 ranked middleweight Dricus du Plessis might drop a clue.
These back-and-forth rows have sparked a debate about whether the South African fighter is next in the line.
