Grosjean Puts Jimmie Johnson on the Same Pedestal as F1 Greats Lewis Hamilton & Michael Schumacher

After being dropped by the Haas F1 team at the end of the 2020 season, Romain Grosjean continued his racing career in IndyCar. The Frenchman joined Dale Coyne Racing, and so far in his rookie season, he has been very impressive.

The former Haas driver had a significant history in the pinnacle of motor racing, winning 10 podiums. In addition, Grosjean, who had previously swapped helmets with several drivers including Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton, has now traded the helmets with the NASCAR legend, Jimmie Johnson.

Taking to Instagram, Romain Grosjean uploaded an image of swapping helmets with the seven-time NASCAR champion, Jimmie Johnson, ahead of the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey. The Frenchman wrote: “Wow, so happy to have swapped helmet with Jimmie Johnson.”

In addition, Grosjean puts Jimmie on the same pedestal as Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Lewis Hamilton, and Fernando Alonso.

“If you had told me one day I would race Schumacher, Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso… Jimmie and many more,” added Grosjean.

Romain Grosjean thrilled by fan reception after securing the third podium at Firestone GP

After staring 10th, Romain Grosjean finished the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at P3 and secured his third NTT INDYCAR SERIES podium finish of the season. Although the race was won by Colton Herta, the fans were cheering for and applauding Grosjean.

The Frenchman was thrilled by the fan’s reaction after displaying yet another impressive performance in his rookie season.

“(The fan reception) is difficult to describe, really. I mean … yeah, it’s difficult to describe. It’s just been incredible. I had a podium when I got the ovation (at the IMS road course) and I almost cried, and I don’t cry very often. It’s been more than anything I could imagine,” said Grosjean after the race.
