Lewis Hamilton Sends Bubba Wallace Some Love as the American Wins His First NASCAR Race

Representation has been an issue for the racing world ever since the inception of Modern Motorsports. Motorsports has always been predominantly a white man’s sport. Lewis Hamilton is probably the most decorated man of color in this field right now. However, another name that comes up is NASCAR racer, Bubba Wallace.
He is the only black driver currently in the grid of NASCAR. The worlds of NASCAR and F1 intersected yesterday when Lewis Hamilton posted a story on his Instagram page to congratulate Bubba Wallace on his victory at Talladega.

NASCAR meets Formula One on Hamilton’s Instagram Page
Bubba Wallace fought his way to victory at the Talladega Speedway and became only the second black driver to have ever won a race at the Cup Series level. He is the first black driver to win at the very top level of NASCAR since 1963, when Wendell Scott raced to victory in the stock car series.

People appreciated Wallace’s victory all over social media, and one of them was 7-time Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton. The Mercedes driver posted a picture of Bubba Wallace on his Instagram story along with the caption, “Let’s f go @BubbaWallace congratulations man.”
Hamilton vs Verstappen is going down to the wire
Speaking of winning races, Lewis Hamilton himself is in a tough battle with Max Verstappen for the 2021 F1 Driver’s World Championship title.

Verstappen, in a Red Bull, has challenged the seemingly invincible combo of Hamilton and Mercedes this season. With only six races left in 2021, the championship hangs in the balance.
Lewis and Max are currently separated by a mere 2 points, with Lewis Hamilton having 246.5 points to Verstappen‘s 244.5. It’s surely going to go down to the wire because both of these drivers have the mentality of a champion.
