To say it’s been a disappointing season for Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton would be an understatement. The 8-time constructor’s champions failed to cope up with the new regulations as rivals Red Bull and Ferrari took advantage of their poor W13 machinery. Moreover, one of Hamilton’s 15-year streaks ended after Saturday’s qualifying, while the other is at risk of breaking tomorrow.

The Mercedes man’s record of winning at least a race every season has been in discussion for a long time. However, one of his records has been overlooked by others. Lewis’s record of winning a pole position every season he’s raced in broke after Saturday’s qualifying session. Max Verstappen took his 7th pole of the season as he’ll start tomorrow’s race on the front row.

He’ll be closely followed by the 2nd best drivers, as per the WDC this season, Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton could only muster a P5  in his final race of this season. He was followed by his teammate, George Russell. Verstappen’s pole brought an end to a remarkable streak set by the 7-time world champion.

Lewis will now hope he can win at the Abu Dhabi GP to maintain his 15-year-old record. However, he has repeatedly said that he would happily sacrifice his personal glory for the benefit of his team.

F1 Twitter mourns the loss of Lewis Hamilton for his pole-less season

Since Lewis Hamilton’s streak of pole positions ended, fans were understandably distraught by the news. Fans on Twitter shared their opinions as they blamed many things including the W13 car of Mercedes.

One fan compared this moment to WWE Wrestler Undertaker’s WrestleMania record. The wrestler has lost just one match in the big event.
