Lewis Hamilton did not have the best of seasons with Mercedes this year. The Silver Arrows driver did not win a single race in the entire season for the first time in his F1 career. He’ll be looking to forget this year and quickly move on. Moreover, with the season now over, Hamilton will look to indulge in his daredevil activities off the grid.

As if driving an F1 car at 200+ mph wasn’t risky enough, Lewis Hamilton tries other adventure sports to keep his adrenaline rush going. The Silver Arrows driver is known for his surfing and skydiving pleasures. Consequently, he recently took former Mercedes reserve driver Nyck de Vries to jump from a plane with him, along with his bodyguard.
In a recent video with Supercar Blondie, Hamilton revealed how he was meeting met right after skydiving an hour before. He also discussed his dangerous lifestyle and the fact that he has had his body completely insured.

Hamilton said, “I was just skydiving like an hour ago. Just came from the desert.” He continued, “Last night I literally couldn’t go to bed because I was so excited I was going skydiving this morning.”
Admitting that he is fully insured, the $285M worth driver further elaborated, “I generally take care of myself. I don’t really take huge risks but I want to live my life. I’ve been competing for 30 years. Also, I just, I’m a true believer that you can’t wait till you retire or wait 10 years or something because you never know right? So you’ve got to live every day.”
The former McLaren man will be hoping to take this time and rejuvenate himself in order to come back stronger for the next season.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff hails “exceptional” Lewis Hamilton despite a miserable season
The Silver Arrows won a single race all season. George Russell won his maiden race in Brazil to earn Mercedes’ first win of the season. This was nowhere close to the standards they have set over the years. Still, their Austrian boss has praised F1’s most successful driver for his actions during the difficult times.

Toto Wolff said, “For me knowing him for 10 years from a personal side, he was exceptional. Better than all the performances in the car, his attitude and mindset this year was outstanding.”
The Austrian further added, “He has held us up at times, kept the energy level up when it was down even on days where it was difficult for him.”
Toto and Lewis will hope to analyze the problems and data from this year to improve. Furthermore, they will also hope to work hard and roll out a competitive car for their drivers to fight for the championship again.
