It has not been a smooth sailing experience for Charles Leclerc in his hunt for his maiden world title, but in his time off from the traveling circus; the Monegasque ensured a smooth sail for himself and his girlfriend in his private $3 million yacht.

The F1 summer break is a crucial time on the calendar for the drivers to disconnect from the sport and re-energize to come back firing on all cylinders. For this purpose, the driver from Monte-Carlo opted to spend his break away from the land, and in the grand blue ocean of Bonifacio, in the south of France.

As each F1 driver leads a lavish style, so does Leclerc, the proud owner of the Riva Sportfly 66 Ribelle. The driver racing with the number 16 is so hooked to his lucky digits that he named his yacht after it; ‘Sedici’, which is the Italian word for the number 16.

 

The yacht manufacturer, Riva has an exclusive partnership with Ferrari. Notably, the 24-year-old has also featured in an advert for the Italian yacht company with the soccer legend, David Beckham.

As per the reports, The Sedici has an overall length of 68’8 ft (20.67 m), a beam of 17’3 ft (5.29 m), and a draft of 5’9 ft (1.8 m). Moreover, it has the capacity of fitting twelve people, plus a cabin crew on board. Lastly, the yacht has an owner’s room, a VIP room, a double room, and three bathrooms.

Remarkably, this is not Leclerc’s first prized possession that can remain afloat as previously he owned a $2 million worth yacht from the same brand which he nicknamed ‘Monza’, after the home track of his team.

How much does Charles Leclerc earn in F1?

In 2019, the up-and-coming talent of the F1 found himself promoted from the Alfa Romeo Sauber to race for the Ferrari. It is a privilege for any driver to wear the infamous red racing suit and Leclerc grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

The Italian racing stable signed the Monegasque on a 5-year deal which keeps him on the team until the end of 2024. As per the sources, he earns $12 million for each season he competes in the pinnacle of motorsport. To put things into context, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen both earn $40 million in a year, which also makes them the top paid F1 drivers.

His current contract makes Leclerc, 7th on the list of the highest-earning F1 driver. The other Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz, signed a deal earlier this year which keeps him on the team until the end of 2024 and also puts him in the same bracket as Leclerc.
