One team that did not have an enjoyable 2020 F1 season was Scuderia Ferrari. The Italian motorsport giants huffed and puffed to results and made rare appearances on the podium.

In relative comparison, their new driver Carlos Sainz had a wonderful campaign last year. Alongside Lando Norris, he helped McLaren to a much improved third place in the Constructors’ standings.

However, Sainz believes there are already some positive signs for his new team, having spent a few weeks with them now. He also feels that the new engine should improve their situation and help have a better 2021 season.

The power unit was a major concern for Ferrari in the 2020 campaign. Both Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel despaired over the performance of their cars despite some valiant efforts.

Sainz, however, has reason to believe that 2021 could get better. He continued, “I already see some positive signs from Ferrari and improvements and obviously a new engine is coming that should improve the situation a bit again, although I think the new year for everyone will be in 2022.”

It might just be a little early for Ferrari to challenge for the titles on offer just as yet. However, they can still make improvements to cut across the competition and finish third in the standings.

Clearly, that would represent a marked improvement from last season, finishing sixth with a measly points tally of 131.

With the existence of a few solid players in an already ultra-competitive midfield, the road ahead is certainly tough for the Prancing Horse. Knowing the nature and spirit of Ferrari, though, expect them to come out firing on all cylinders and giving it their best possible efforts in the new season.
