‘A True Hero’ – Lewis Hamilton and the F1 World Pay Tribute to Captain Sir Tom Moore

One of the biggest pride of the United Kingdom, Captain Sir Tom Moore, recently succumbed to the severe effects of COVID-19. Following his passing, most of the British personalities, including F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, took to social media to grieve the death of Moore, who was hailed as an inspiration to all.

The former army officer was 100-years old when he passed away, and his recent fundraising ‘walk’ around his garden turned out to be a national sensation. This event is the primary reason why he has been celebrated as one of the greatest human beings.

Lewis Hamilton and others react to Sir Tom’s death

The seven-time world champion tweeted a rather huge statement as a reaction to the death of his “inspiration.”

I am so saddened to hear the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore. He was an inspiration to the entire country. And I am honoured to have had the opportunity to be able to tell how in awe of him I was.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family today, as well as everyone who has lost a loved one to the virus. Captain Sir Tom was a true hero. And we will never forget the incredible man who brought out the best of us at such a difficult time. RIP Captain Sir Tom,Lewis wrote.

Meanwhile, McLaren driver, Lando Norris, posted a picture which had Sir Tom posing alongside Norris’s crash helmet.

He wrote, “With sadness one of the coolest and most inspiring characters has passed away. A man who showed the world what you can do no matter the age or difficulty. It was a pleasure to share some good laughs with you. I’ll remember them. To an inspiration. Rest in peace Captain Sir Tom.”

George Russell, too, joined the club, and bid adieu to Sir Tom. “Captain Sir Tom Moore was a shining light in these dark times. A true hero, who inspired us all. My thoughts are with his family and friends,” he wrote.

The sensational fundraising walk

COVID-19 turned the world turned around in a span of months, as people started losing their homes, their loved ones. And then came the motivational Sir Tom.

The 100-year-old managed to turn the frown upside down during the first lockdown last year. In the wake of his 100th birthday, the Briton announced a fundraising campaign.

The former army officer walked his 25-yard garden 10 times a day with the support of his walking frame. As he concluded his 100th lap, the funding page closed, as people awaited the final raised amount.

Eventually, it was announced that Sir Tom managed to raise a whopping £33 million. The amount turned out to be a lending hand to the struggling country due to the pandemic. This world-famous event led to Sir Tom falling under the limelight.

Hence, his achievements made it extremely difficult for the entire country to digest his death, as condolences poured in on the knight’s family. This makes us think about whether the country will ever witness such a human being again.
