It was not the best of seasons for Scuderia Ferrari, as they toiled their way to sixth in the Constructors’ standings. One of the bright spots of their season was star driver Charles Leclerc.

The 23-year-old tried to extract maximum performance from the SF1000. Despite it being, arguably, one of the toughest Ferrari cars to drive in the team’s recent history.

Regardless, Leclerc took the time out to thank the Ferrari fans through a series of tweets from his handle. He also promised to do his best in 2021, in order to bring back the team to a respectable position.

Charles Leclerc thanked Ferrari fans for their support during a ‘difficult season’

Leclerc’s tweets read, “Last but not least. Thank you guys for the continuous support this year. Unfortunately you couldn’t come to support us at the races but I can see the messages you send me and I feel your support throughout social medias.”

Indeed, with the limited performing potential of the car, the Monegasque was still the more impressive of the two drivers at the team. He backed it up early in the season, with two podium finishes at the Red Bull Ring and then at Silverstone.

Leclerc needs a better car from Ferrari to showcase his true talent and potential

For a large part of the season, Leclerc was unable to qualify in the top places. In most races, Ferrari were overtaken by their rivals, mainly due to lesser power from their own engines. They later barely scraped their way through to points finishes.

From that regard, he definitely deserves a much more powerful and efficient car at Ferrari, as does his new teammate Carlos Sainz. Together, they can then hope to put a smile on the fans’ faces and ensure they have a much more fruitful 2021 season.
