How often is it that we hear of a Ferrari car being slow? For all non-F1 followers, Ferrari is a luxury brand that manufactures cars that perform as well as they look. But for F1 fans, it has become associated as “Second best”, at their best. The entire F1 fanbase knows that Ferrari lacks pace. Even Charles Leclerc said the team’s performance is “worrying”. But it is all the more disappointing to hear the same from Carlos Sainz, who had a decent showing in Spain.

If one were to look outside the F1 world, Ferrari is one of the best car manufacturers. They are so good that they won the 2023 Le Mans 24 in their first attempt after not having participated in the racing event for more than 50 years. Although in F1, the Prancing Horses have not won any championships since 2007-08. This year, Carlos Sainz believes that Ferrari has not earned too many points owing to a slow car.

According to Speedweek, Sainz said, “We talk about tire degradation all the time, but I think there’s more of a fundamental problem with race pace. According to the team’s analysis, we lack pace, especially in the race. So we have to get the car right so that it protects the tyres but is also more consistent, so that we can push ourselves to the limit throughout the race. Because at the moment it feels like we have to hold back a bit.” [translated via Google]

Prior to Sainz, Charles Leclerc had also voiced his discontent about the Italian outfit’s lack of pace. The Monegasque comes off a horrific weekend in Spain & has shown his cluelessness & worry about the situation. He cited how the team cannot figure out the reasons behind them being slow on ultimate pace. So Carlos has pretty much seconded his teammate’s sentiments.

And simultaneously, Shakira developed a sudden interest in the F1 world. According to Spanish journalist Pip Estrada, Sainz played Cupid as he introduced Shakira to the F1 world, and Hamilton.

It is very disappointing to see things go wrong for a genuinely nice person who is trying his best. Let us hope that Carlos Sainz finds his way through personal problems and a Ferrari that is lacking race pace.
