2023 is going to be a historic year for McLaren. The start of the year marks the 60th anniversary of the Woking-based outfit in Formula 1. That being said, the new season also brings a lot of hope and excitement because of the team’s latest acquisition. After a lengthy saga of poaching Alpine academy driver Oscar Piastri from the clutches of the French team, McLaren will be fielding the young Australian alongside Lando Norris for the upcoming season. And as these things go, it would appear that Piastri is quickly becoming a fan favorite at the iconic British team.
In line with the team’s Monday car launch, McLaren has released a splattering of promotional videos. The latest of them was a really wholesome meet-up for CEO Zak Brown with five lucky kids who got the chance of visiting the Woking headquarters of the team before the season launch. In the video, which was uploaded to McLaren’s YouTube channel, Brown can be seen answering questions posed by the young ones in relation to the upcoming Formula 1 season. However, one particular detail has caught the eyes of F1 fans on Twitter!

Brown can be seen telling the kids that Norris will be partnered with Piastri for the upcoming season. The scene then shifts to them checking out the historic pieces of McLaren machinery as Piastri walks by. The 21-year-old greets the kids, and then, one of the kids gets his name wrong! The young fan says, “It’s Oscar Pastry!” The others quickly correct that particular goof-up. However, fans on Twitter have really taken a liking to the whole ‘Pastry’ affair.

As it turns out, this isn’t the first time McLaren drivers have been given creative names by the fans! Famously, Daniel Ricciardo was dubbed ‘Daniel Avocado’. Now, both Norris and Piastri have entered that club.
