When Haas severed their relationship with Mick Schumacher in 2022, he received a chance to work as a reserve driver in the Mercedes garage. At that point, it seemed as though Toto Wolff and Co. had become an angel for Schumacher’s survival. The German driver made a pledge to do everything in his power to fulfill his responsibilities in relation to his employment as a reserve driver, and this promise started to come true over time. Furthermore, he was given a pat on his back by Mercedes legend Lewis Hamilton as he specifically highlighted Mick Schumacher’s behind the scene work. And now, as the Silver Arrows’ fortunes are starting to change, Toto Wolff was the one seen praising the 23-year-old.

Mercedes brought some of its most important improvements to the Monaco Grand Prix, and those changes have unquestionably benefited the team as seen at both the Spanish Grand Prix and the Canadian Grand Prix. This helped the Silver Arrows significantly narrow the gap between both Red Bull and Aston Martin. This prompted Sir Lewis Hamilton to laud the team’s efforts as well as Mick Schumacher’s endeavors with the Simulator over the course of the Spanish Grand Prix weekend.

After the earning double podium at Barcelona track, Hamilton said, “We did a great job overnight. We have a great team, with Mick returning to the simulator on Friday night and did a great job, which helped us get on the right track on Saturday.”

And now it is the team’s principal Toto Wolff, who after much of the chaos related to the German driver’s future with some teams, has showered praise on the 23-year-old. As per Speedweek.com Wolff said, “ I think whoever wants him would get a good driver. “While adding that missing Schumacher for the upcoming season might be a big loss for the teams, Wolff added, “Ultimately, the other teams have to decide for themselves which drivers they want. Nor can I tell the teams we have contracts with to take our reserve driver. But I think you’re missing something.”

Schumacher has been out of the regular seat for a whole calendar year. However, his future has become a contentious issue in recent days. And now that Toto Wolff is praising the German, does he stand a chance to shine on the Red Bull? Let’s hear from the Red Bull advisor himself.

It was rumored that Schumacher, 23, was being considered for the seat at AlphaTauri, the Red Bull sister team, while Mercedes was in talks with him. Nyck de Vries eventually received the seat. As a result, Red Bull was accused of having a vendetta against Schumacher by Mick’s uncle Ralf Schumacher.

Helmut Marko, as honest as ever, clarified the situation by saying, “I talk to Ralf regularly. But he is confusing one thing: our F1 programme is based on performance, not on marketing.” He later decided to open up about the allegation and declared in his closing remarks, “I have nothing against him. It just doesn’t fit with us.”
