McLaren has a reason to finally celebrate after what seemed like forever for a Grand Prix win. Although Oscar Piastri won the Qatar Sprint Race, Lando Norris brought home the big trophy from the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. However, the surprising thing is that Lando Norris knew he was going to win before the race even started. How is that? Maybe because of the McLaren upgrades, of course!

Ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, Lando Norris was called to Sky Sports F1 for a Lie detection test where he was tested for the truth in his words. Question after question Lando Norris answered truthfully, and when he was asked if he would win a race this year, he was positive and the Polygraph test checked out. Lewis Hamilton was the last McLaren world champion back in 2008 and considering that, when Norris was asked if he could be the world champion with his current team, the recent race winner’s reply had fans at the edge of their seats.

After testing the driver with questions about his name and where he lives, things took a turn when Norris was asked if he had a girlfriend. And although Norris responded by saying no, his millions of fans might not be happy with his next answer. Norris was then asked if he had many girlfriends if not one. To this, the race winner replied ‘yes‘, breaking hearts all over.

While this was some personal information about him, the next few questions got race-centric. Norris was asked, “Are you the best British driver on the current Formula One grid? The other two, by the way, are Lewis Hamilton, and George Russell. “ To this, Norris replied with a yes, but the polygraph test stated that the answer was not true. Norris finally revealed that he did think that Lewis Hamilton is the best British driver on the grid.

“Will you win a race in 2024?” was the question that turned heads during the interview, and when the truthful reply was “Yes,” the host asked Norris if he thought that the MCL38 is a good car. Norris replied, “I just, I’m fed up of not believing, so I decided to change my attitude.” With this, Lando Norris was determined to win a race and shortly after the interview, he did so in Miami. This led to questions about his plans for the future, with the final question asking him if he would repeat Lewis Hamilton’s legacy. And Norris claimed that he truly believes so.

Will Lando Norris become the world champion?

During the lie detection test, the final question to the Maiden Race Winner was, “Are you going to be world champion one day?” Norris’ response was Yes. The follow-up question came in asking, “With McLaren?” And Norris replied, Yes to that too. Looking at the fact that he predicted his victory and is on the path toward becoming a better driver, there is a strong possibility that we might get to see Norris win more races and even become a world champion in the future.

Before Lewis Hamilton became a world champion 6 times consecutively, he won his first world championship with McLaren. The team has not seen a world champion title ever since and maybe Zak Brown was right, Lando Norris is their shot at winning the constructors championship. Both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri showed amazing pace during the Miami weekend. This shows that the upgrades that McLaren has been working on have worked like a charm.
