After Overturning Successive Horror Shows, Pierre Gasly Finds Satisfaction in Alpine’s Small Gain: “Been a Difficult Task To Keep..”

“We clearly want bounce back straightaway after the poor weekend in Baku,” said Pierre Gasly. He seemed to have the utmost faith in the French team, following the horrors of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. After the disaster of the Australian Grand Prix, where both Alpine drivers were unable to use the Red Flags to their advantage. The Enstone-based team arrived at the Baku circuits, with hopes of bagging some crucial points. However, the entire group was unaware that another nightmare awaited them. Both Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly failed to finish within the points yet again as they raced through the streets of Baku.
However, just as there is a beautiful sunny day for every dark night, the French squad also got its sunny day at the Miami GP. As the team claimed its best position as both of their pilots finished within the top 10 on the grid following the series of horror shows, at least for the team’s most recent addition, Pierre Gasly, who finished P8. The Frenchman later was also found enjoying the team’s modest success.

The A523 stunned everyone with its rapid qualifying results. It not only achieved some impressive speed following the revisions of a completely new floor with re-profiled tunnels but also placed Gasly at P5, three positions ahead of teammate Ocon (P8). Despite sitting in the middle of the pack, both Alpine Motorists were aware that it would be challenging to maintain their place against the top teams, like Mercedes and Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc finally brought the Alpine’s top speed to its knees as they outran Gasly after the Frenchman displayed some top defensive skills. As a result, he placed eighth. Nevertheless, despite his immense achievement, Gasly finds fulfillment in minor triumphs. As per Formulapassion.it, Gasly said, “I am very satisfied with the result of the race today, even if we are behind our position on the grid. It would always have been a difficult task to keep behind some of the fastest cars such as those of Verstappen and Leclerc, but being in battle with the Ferrari and Mercedes until the end of the race is certainly encouraging.”
Later he added, “After two difficult races for the team, it was important for us to score two points finishes, so the credit goes to everyone for this result here in Miami.”
At the conclusion of the race in Florida, protagonist Gasly’s approach was proven successful. On the other hand, his teammate and frenemy Esteban Ocon had rather endured an average showing. Ocon placed ninth, just behind Gasly, but he didn’t appear excessively happy about the accomplishments. Seeing his reaction, one could ponder, why?
Why did Ocon, the teammate of Pierre Gasly didn’t appear to be overjoyed by the successful outcome in Miami?
Gasly started the race on the medium-rubber straight-aways of Northern American circuits. But he switched to hard tires for the second half. However, in contrast, Ocon opted for a different strategy. The 26-year-old instead used hard tires to start his race and medium tires to finish it.

Nevertheless, when Ocon was quizzed about the successful outcome, the not-overexcited Ocon said, as per a tweet uploaded on Twitter, “Yeah, it feels good, doesn’t feel great. We are not winning yet, we are not top 5, and we are not on the podium so it doesn’t feel like where we should be. We need to keep pushing. Obviously, it’s been to come back where we belong but there’s a lot more to come hopefully.”
