This past December, the American fashion and lifestyle magazine, Vogue, published an issue with the photo of Kelly Piquet dressed in racing gear as the cover. Since the issue was majorly about ‘Women in Motorsports’, people didn’t like Kelly Piquet representing a community that she didn’t really belong to. So it wasn’t a surprise when fans criticized Kelly Piquet and the magazine for the same. The 34-year-old Brazilian model was on the front page, wearing a racing helmet.

Kelly Piquet, a Brazilian model, was born into a family of Formula One racers with her father being the three time f1 champion, Nelson Piquet. Despite that, Kelly Piquet’s involvement as a “Women in Motorsports” is arguable restricted to being there in the paddock and supporting her boyfriend, Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen.

Because of this, many criticized the magazine for giving the impression that she is a woman of motorsport or at least someone who can represent it, Fans cited that she lacks the resources to promote women in motorsports and many preferred that role to be filled by women who actually competes in the sport.

And now, Jamie Chadwick herself has informed fans via social media that she had a great time shooting with Vogue, she wrote, “VOGUE!!✨Very surreal shooting with @voguemagazine and @ROLEX for December’s @VogueMexico edition.”

Jamie Chadwick and Red Bull strategist Hannah Schmitz were examples of people who were perfect to be on the cover of an issue themed around motorsports, given that they are idolized by millions of women. And now, when Vogue selected Jamie Chadwick after acknowledging the people’s disappointment, adoration and praise for the magazine were seen on social media.

Twitter F1 fans applaud VOGUE for choosing Jamie Chadwick
