Alex Albon will be making his F1 debut in 2022 with Williams F1. As he takes over George Russell’s place in the team, he looks forward to replicating or even outperforming Russell, except for one thing.

George Russell is known for many things: Saturday qualifying, his race at Sakhir, and also, shirtless pictures. Albon has teased Russell on multiple occasions for the pictures the Brit posts on his social media. In a recent interview, Albon proposed a good idea for Mercedes to extract the most from their driver.

Albon is assured that topless selfies are Russell’s job. In fact, Mercedes can get something out of it. “I think Lewis and George can do it together. There can be a calendar coming out next year with them.”

While that might not be the worst idea for the marketing team at Mercedes, we don’t doubt the two fashionable drivers will absolutely kill it.

Albon sheds light on his relationship with Russell

Alex Albon and George Russell have been great friends prior to their career in F1. In the interview, Albon talked about the return of friendship on the grid; not only with Russell but also with the ‘Quartet’.

During the lockdown, Russell, Norris, and Leclerc streamed on Twitch with Albon. This further tightened the bond between the four, who have now made a name for themselves in the sport. Albon said, “We’ve been racing for a while together and we have a good relationship.”

The Thai driver especially mentions his relationship with Russell, hoping to continue spending time with him despite Mercedes’ hectic schedule. “He practically lived at my house in 2016, so we get on really well. Hopefully, we can do some more of that stuff. I know everyone’s busy now… I hope we can still do that kind of stuff.”

It’s no doubt that all four drivers will continue to have fun on the grid; as friendly as they are, the competition begins when the visor goes down. Nonetheless, everyone is glad that the band is back together.

Norris is excited about the reunion as well. “Just between us three [Norris, Albon and Russell], we’ve done a lot of interviews together and videos and things, and we’ve had a lot of fun. We’ve kind of grown up together in a way, so it’s just nice because they’re people I know, and I respect them a lot. It’s cool to have him back.”
