Valtteri Bottas will race for Alfa Romeo Racing in the 2022 season. After 5 successful years with the Mercedes AMG F1 Team, the Finn left after the 2021 season. He will replace Kimi Raikkonen in the Alfa Romeo as the 2007 world champion decided to retire at the end of the 2021 season.

Alfa Romeo team principal Frédéric Vasseur mentioned he is happy that Bottas will race for the Swiss team. Both of them share a good relationship as Vasseur was the team boss of ART when Bottas won his F2 championship.

“It is important to know each other deeply and have full mutual trust. I’ve seen this in the past with Charles. When you work with a rider in the minor categories, you get to know that person well and you don’t have to spend a lot of time talking to him and understanding his expectations,” said Vasseur.
