Valtteri Bottas has just been announced as an Alfa Romeo driver for the 2022 season. Team Principal Frederic Vasseur sees the Finn and thinks he can build a team around him, just like Red Bull did for Sebastian Vettel, and Mercedes are doing for Lewis Hamilton.

He believes that Bottas is still a young driver and has a lot to offer. Vasseur also sees the Swiss team as the perfect opportunity for Valtteri to grow and improve as years go by.

Build a team around Valtteri Bottas just like Mercedes did for Hamilton
After spending five years with the Brackley-based squad, Bottas will join Alfa Romeo at the start of the 2022 season. Vasseur sees this as an opportunity to build around a team around the Finn, and bring success just like Vettel did to Red Bull and Hamilton with Mercedes.
Speaking to Roberto Chinchero from Motorsport, the Alfa Romeo boss said, “I think it is also an excellent opportunity for Valtteri. He will have the opportunity to have a new role, which will see him be the team’s reference driver, in fact a new chapter in his career.
