The Met Gala, presented by American fashion magazine Vogue, is an annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute in New York City. The gala event takes place every year, usually on the first Monday of every May. And it generally turns out to be a huge hit among celebrities.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has been ever present for the occasion with his sleek style. With the 2022 Met Gala approaching, let’s look back at the Gala attended by Hamilton.

The 2015 Met Gala

The 2015 Met Gala’s theme was “China: Through the Looking Glass”, which celebrated China’s influence on Western fashion. Lewis Hamilton was the epitome of cool as he arrived at the 2015 Met Gala in New York City.

The then 30-year-old Hamilton looked very dapper, wearing a black and blue suit designed by Topshop with his hair slicked back. He wore his black trainer shoes and diamond earrings.

Lewis Hamilton arrived in style for the 2016 Met Gala

The theme for the 2016 Met Gala was “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology,” with looks that merge both manufactured design and handcrafted artistry. Lewis Hamilton looked simple yet stunning, during the 2016 Met Gala.

The Mercedes driver arrived at the star-studded event donning a black tuxedo and bow tie, which he paired with a smile on his face. Hamilton’s costume was designed by Dolce & Gabbana.

Hamilton’s white costume grabs attention at the 2018 Met Gala

The theme of the 2018 Met Gala was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” This somewhat proved to be controversial because of the religious aspect involved. Meanwhile, Hamilton’s attire comprised of a white suit, with a matching shirt and waistcoat.

The Brit sported a stylish outfit as he turned heads on the red carpet. He wore the Tommy Hilfiger suit with Loriblu boots. He also displayed his nose piercing during the event.

The 2019 Met Gala

The 2019 Met Gala’s theme was in keeping with Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay Notes on ‘Camp,’ the 2019 exhibit and gala focused on the idea of camp as an aesthetic sensibility that combines humor, irony, and style to embrace fantasy.

Lewis Hamilton’s stunning outfit at the Met Gala 2019 was no doubt one of the most eye-catching dresses. His designer was Tommy Hilfiger. Sporting a back gem-encrusted headband, the Briton caught the eye in a black suit flaunting and matching trousers. He paired his look with black Cuban heel boots.

The controversial 2021 Met Gala

The 2021 Met Gala theme was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” It was all about the American spirit. Lewis’ look was given a glamorous finish thanks to his black blazer and trousers, paired with a mesh shirt and white netted veil skirt.
