A lot of thrills and excitement are in store for 2023. In addition to visiting new locales, the F1 grid will also include some novel pairings this year. The All-French Alpine squad will probably be the most popular pair among them. But as these two Frenchmen, Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, are rising to their peaks, more people are drawing parallels to a previous Hamilton-Rosberg Rivalry Era.

The Alpine duo will constitute the first fully French lineup at a Renault-owned team since 1982 when Alain Prost and Rene Arnoux shared a partnership at the first works squad. Last year, both of the French drivers were absolute enigmas on the racetracks. With their superior skills, neither Esteban Ocon nor Pierre Gasly wanted to concede even an inch to the opposing driver. With this new generation’s battle, many have compared them to Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, two incredibly great drivers who didn’t want to give each other any room as they fought for the championship.

All of this began with a video that Alpine posted in which both the drivers are called to the Enstone office for a meeting with Otmar Szafnauer, and Esteban Ocon texts Gasly, “Hey I’ll wait for you on the other side. We have a meeting with Otmar at Enstone.” The two quickly get into their cars and race to the team’s office. At last, they both reach simultaneously, demonstrating that neither of them is going to hold back in the upcoming season.
