Hamilton appeared in a video posted by Mercedes, on their Twitter and Instagram page. Lewis said, “Honestly it felt just great to be back in the car, a lot of fun. When you leave the garage the first time, you get this buzz, and it doesn’t matter how many years you do it. It always feels new and fresh, which is great.”

Furthermore, Lewis said, “Valtteri’s day was dry, my day started off wet, so quite a greasy Silverstone track. But obviously, I grew up in this kind of weather here, so I’m used to itI was still able to get a good feel of the car. I didn’t feel like I’ve ever left the water, so that’s a positive. Every time you take a big break- I think it’s been 103 days or something- you always wonder whether you can still drive.”

Getting some laps in will be critical for Lewis, as he chases yet another world title. He’ll also have the record of 7 world championship wins, set by Michael Schumacher in his sights, while Mercedes will want to continue their domination of F1. However, it won’t be an easy task. The likes of Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and even Sebastian Vettel will be fighting to get the crown off the Briton. Thus 2020 shapes up to be an exciting season for everyone involved.
