Ken Block had many iconic cars over the years. With that said, the Ford Focus RS RX is the one that pops up straight into the minds of motorsport fans. However, for older fans, the undisputed GOAT of Block’s racing career would be the modified 1965 Ford Mustang. Fondly dubbed the ‘Hoonicorn’, this was arguably the most prized possession of the late American WRC legend. And as it turns out, 7x Champion Lewis Hamilton had made up his mind about taking it away from him! However, this time, Block was already a step ahead of the Brit.

Supposedly, Lewis Hamilton was eagerly hoping to strike a deal with the American to purchase this 845hp beast from him. Block revealed to Auto Motor und Sport, “Lewis Hamilton wanted to buy the Mustang from me. When he heard the price, he suddenly lost interest [laughs].”

However, as it would turn out, the steep price was Block’s way of gatekeeping his prized possession. He valued the Hoonicorn more than any other sports going car ever. “Why should I spend a couple of hundred thousand dollars for a car that is slower than my (Ford Fiesta rally car)?”

Even though Block got the better of Hamilton on that day, the two apparently shared a deep bond. On the sad occasion of the American’s untimely demise, today, after a fatal snowmobile accident, Hamilton rushed to his social media accounts to pay homage to his friend.

2023 couldn’t have started any worse for motorsport fans. Rallying legend, Ken Block passed away after sustaining fatal injuries due to an upended snowmobile. As soon as the news was broken to the world, Lewis Hamilton rushed to remember the man who he called a friend.

Hamilton wrote on Instagram, “He was such an amazing person, always lived life to the fullest. I remember our first time working together and how positive he was. So much talent behind the wheel. Years ago, we had an amazing time heli-skiing and snowboarding in Canada.”

“We held so much respect for one another. He will truly be missed and my thoughts and prayers go to his beautiful family. Gone too soon. Rest in peace, Ken.”
