Amid Confirmed Reports, Ferrari Release Dubious Statement Surrounding Future of F1 Team Principal Mattia Binotto

The Brazilian GP was packed with lots of action and drama. Ferrari ended their weekend with P3 and P4. Looking at the disappointing stint that they have had so far, this wasn’t a poor result for them. Moreover, In light of how underwhelming Ferrari’s performance has been, some rumors prevailed that Mattia Binotto will be removed as team principal of the Reds.

More recently, Gazette even confirmed these speculations. However, it was just a few hours ago when Ferrari decided to put an end to all the gossip.

Ferrari started the season quite decently winning 2 races in the first 3. The Prancing Horse faced had many ups and downs. The team which was once the toughest contender to Red Bull has now fallen back. Scuderia has had many reliability issues, strategic failures, and even driver errors. This led them to a very tricky situation competing with the Silver Arrows.

The Mercedes is now in a strong position after a double podium win in Brazil. With all this, there are questions being raised about the team’s potential as well as Mattia Binotto‘s. After taking over the position from Maurizio Arrivabene in 2019, Binotto has served the team for four years. During the course, the Maranello-based outfits have merely won 7 races.

According to the rumors, Binotto will be replaced by one of the two following candidates, Fred Vasseur, team boss of Alfa Romeo, or Antonello Coletta.

Although just moments before, the Scuderia made an announcement on their official Twitter handle. They wrote, “In relation to speculation in certain media regarding Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto’s position, Ferrari states that these rumors are totally without foundation.”

Ferrari was all set to be the number 1 team in 2022, but their season was plagued with several issues. Even after getting numerous suggestions on changing the staff, Mattia Binotto didn’t listen and stuck with his own mantra.

The new technical regulations seemed to be a boon for the Prancing Horses, as they were one of the quickest on the track at first. If the team wasn’t entangled with several technical issues and driver errors, the Maranello-based outfit could have been the champion of season 2022.

Earlier this year when the strategies were failing, and the team was not in a good place, Binotto was asked if he would change the strategy staff, but he stated that they will go ahead with the same unit.

On behalf of the team, Binotto told Sky Sports, ” We do not need to change people, but we certainly need to change some things. The way we are communicating, the way we are getting to the process of making our decisions, changes are required. Adding value may be necessary, adding people as well.”

“But changing people is not a path I want to go through  that’s an old way of addressing issues.”

For now, the team has put a rest to the rumors. But it’ll be really interesting to know if Ferrari will stick to the Italian Engineer as their team boss or if it was just a step to calm the waters.
