“I felt really betrayed at that moment,” says Daniil Kvyat. Having been away from Formula 1 for over two years now, the former Red Bull driver is back in the headlines after his comments on one of the most-known podcasts in the world of F1. The comments were directed towards his former team, expressing his views after he was relegated to Toro Rosso mid-season and Max Verstappen was promoted.

The comments stirred the pot as the driver made more claims during the conversation with the hosts of Track Limits. But this in particular caught the attention of those responsible for things at Red Bull, especially the boss, Christian Horner. While Kvyat claims no love is lost between him and Helmut Marko, Horner took a slight dig at the “betrayed” comment. Via his joke, Horner also justified the team’s action of demoting Daniil Kvyat, as all the bets since then seem to have gone right for the team.

The response was given by Horner during an episode of the team’s podcast, Talking Bull. When a recording of a driver was played, the boss was made to guess the driver and the incident. As quoted by PlanetF1, Christian Horner got the answer correct as he said, “That was Daniil Kvyat. The question is where does he crash? Because he had a few of them.” But the other half of the answer was wrong, as he thought of it as Kvyat’s 2016 crash in Sochi, but in actuality, it was a crash from the 2015 United States Grand Prix.

The comment sets things in order for everyone on Red Bull’s end. With Kvyat’s crashes as the reason behind his demotion, the picture is clear, and things appear just fine between him and the management.

Daniil Kvyat acknowledges the fairness 

Daniil Kvyat came during tumultuous times at Red Bull. A talented hotshot who joined a beaming Daniel Ricciardo after Sebastian Vettel’s departure had a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. However, he wasn’t too lucky, as his time at Red Bull faded away quickly.

Kvyat expresses his feelings of being hurt at that time but also credits the team for handling it professionally since the sport is unforgiving and brutal. As quoted by F1Maximaal, he said, “Then you help them through their toughest time and then put you on the street in such a way …But hey, it was still a good chapter. I saw how a top team worked. The pressure is very different. Everything is at stake and the political games are very strong.”
