Lewis Hamilton’s contract saga finally seems to be coming to an end after a recent report came out. The Briton was linked to Ferrari as reports of John Elkann and Frederic Vasseur contacting Hamilton came out. Nonetheless, Lawrence Barretto recently advised that both Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff have agreed on the financials and the length of the Briton’s new Mercedes contract. Only the finer details are left before the contract is officially signed.

According to F1-insider.com, Toto Wolff during the Hungarian GP whispered Lewis Hamilton’s new contract length into a child’s ear who was reporting for Sky Group’s children’s dedicated podcast. It is believed that Toto Wolff whispered for 2 years.

Lewis Hamilton wants a 2+8-year contract from Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton’s contract situation has been left hanging for way too long. Amid rumors of retirement and a reignited interest from Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton supposedly asked Mercedes for a 2+8 year contract. 2 years as an active racing driver and then 8 as a brand ambassador. The revelation made above suggests that the 2-year part of Hamilton’s demand has been fulfilled but no update on the brand ambassador side of the deal.

Hamilton was reported to ask $25,000,000 a year for the ambassador role, which would’ve totaled a total payout of $200 Million over the duration of 8 years. Let’s see if the official contract announcement will have any detail related to the ambassador role proposal.
