Nelson Piquet has been a controversial character on and off the track. The court fined the Brazilian driver $950,000 for his use of racial words against Lewis Hamilton in an interview from 2021. Nonetheless, continuing on the dodgy path, Nelson Piquet was recently accused of being part of a $3.2 million scandal related to the Presidential jewelry collection alongside Renan Bolsonaro. Reports of an imminent arrest were also wild spread. 

Amid this tough time for the Brazilian F1 legend, the GF of Max Verstappen, Kelly Piquet, stuck up for Nelson Piquet. The reason why Kelly Piquet is standing up for Nelson Piquet is because she’s his daughter. To show support, the Brazilian model shared a picture with her father on her Instagram story with the caption, “Feliz dia dos pais para meu tudo” which translates to “Happy Father’s Day to my everything”

What exactly is Nelson Piquet being accused of?

Nelson Piquet is believed to be a supporter of the Bolsonaro family. Jair Bolsonaro was the previous President of Brazil. As per recent reports, Bento Albuquerque, the then Minister of Mine and Energy, was found with $3.2 million worth of jewelry as he came back from a trip to Saudi Arabia. To get away with the taxes, it was declared as a gift for the state and hence was added to the Presidential jewelry collection.

However, Nelson Piquet and Renan Bolsonaro are now accused of stealing the jewelry, which was declared a state gift. Nelson Piquet is reported to be the one who delivered the suitcase with the jewelry to Bolsonaro.
