‘And Then I Never Look at It Again’ – How Lewis Hamilton Prepares Himself for Every F1 Season

Lewis Hamilton has had quite a successful 2020. He won the 2020 championship season quite comfortably, lost the top of the podium due to penalties on a couple of races, and also beat the coronavirus by making a comeback in the season finale.

After an eventful year, the Briton is working towards closing the contract negotiation with Mercedes; a nice Christmas gift to wrap the year up. Meanwhile, he also took a moment to look back at the year.

Hamilton talked about setting up his goals at the beginning of the year. “I don’t really remind myself of my dreams. I kinda. just in the beginning of the year, jot down the things that I want to do and aspirations one to ten,” he said.

He further added, “When I get to track at the start of the season, I have a book and I write at the beginning what my goal is, and then I never look at it again. Then at the end of the year, I come back and write whether I reached that goal.”

Hamilton did not have any real competitor this season. Valtteri Bottas, Hamilton’s teammate, had an unlucky season with issues after issues. Max Verstappen, on the other hand, just didn’t have the car to regularly compete with Hamilton.

However, Red Bull have shown improvement towards the end of the season. They have also signed Sergio Perez for 2021. The pair in the Red Bull beast will be a force to reckon with. Meanwhile, Bottas will only hope that his string of bad luck comes to an end or else, he might lose out on the P2 position of championship standing.
