Red Bull‘s sister team moving its aerodynamics department to Milton Keynes caused a tremendous uproar in the F1 world. Many teams revolted against the idea of the now Visa Cash App RB team getting their hands on the vastly superior Red Bull technology ahead of the 2024 season. We already saw the impact of this development, with the VCARB01 sharing similarities to the Red Bull chassis. However, Motorsport’s Italian journalist Franco Nugnes with Antonio Ghini has come up with a solution. A solution that will help Andretti Autosport pave its way into F1 as well.

As we all know, Andretti Autosport faced yet another rejection from F1 in their attempts to become part of the circus. There was a feeling the team bosses influenced the FOM’s decision to deny them entry. However, there is another problem at hand with early signs of Visa Cash App RB’s heavy reliance on Red Bull coming to light after the livery launch. The similarities between the VCARB01 and the RB19 were criticized by both Nugnes and Ghini in the latest Motorsport.com video on YouTube. However, the latter came up with a solution to this problem if it boils over in the coming season.

After pointing out how Red Bull has limited time in the wind tunnel, Nugnes said, “They (Visa Cash App RB) have more than 1000 hours on the other side and they go to the same tunnel and the model (car) is practically the same. Explain to me where is the problem in the transfer of information. It’s open information! and they will have a huge advantage.” He added, “I think there will be a lot of stomach ache inside the paddock for the others, that’s for sure,” (Translated via Google)

To this, Ghini gave his two cents and gave a perfect solution to the problem which will favor Andretti and their chances of getting into F1. He said, “Ah yes, there’s no doubt. Now here the best thing for everyone (the grid) to get together with supporting Andretti so that he can buy the Racing Bulls. This way they solve the problem.”

This will also solve Red Bull’s rumored desire to sell the sister team and give some ease of mind to the rest of the grid while giving Andretti a straightforward way into the sport. It’s all hypothetical at this point but if the VCARB01 does turn out to be extremely competitive soon after their move to Milton Keynes, it will become a topic of contention for the entire grid and the sport.

The news of the Faenza-based team’s move to Milton Keynes upset a lot of team bosses. There were concerns about the two teams sharing information that would push their sister team higher up the grid. Simultaneously, Red Bull could also benefit by sharing the wind tunnel and using the data to optimize their limited wind tunnel time, as pointed out by Nugnes. However, the Ferrari boss has faith in the governing body to not let Red Bull have an unfair advantage over the rest of the grid.

He expressed his trust in the FIA during an interview and said, “It’s true what they are doing together [with Red Bull] is a strange situation with two teams owned by the same company. But the FIA has been able to manage it so far – and I am sure they will be able to in future.”

We won’t know how heavy the reliance is until the cars hit the track. However, if we see a lot of carry forward to the VCARB01 from the RB19 or RB20, the two Italians have already given us a solution.
