There had been a lot of reports of fans complaining about being harassed and abused during the Austrian Grand Prix. Many fans took to social media to share their experiences on how they were treated in the grandstands while watching Formula One. Almost every single F1 driver, including Lando Norris, condemned the behavior of some fans.

While some drivers even went on and proclaimed that F1 should give the fans who are abusing other people a life ban, Norris believed that F1 should kick these fans out but not face a life ban as suggested by some drivers.

These comments did not sit down with the F1 fans on social media. They called out the young McLaren driver for his views and mentioned that he should not be allowed to answer questions on these topics.

The backlash also comes at a time when F1 and teams alike have been outspoken in condemning such behavior. Thus, to have a driver encourage this, even to some extent, comes as a shock.

Lando Norris gives his opinion on the life ban on abusive fans

The McLaren driver revealed that he did not have any solutions to the problem but does not believe banning them for life is the right solution.

“Kick them out. [But] I wouldn’t say a life ban. I don’t want to see anything like that, because a fan is a fan. If they want to be here, it is because they like racing and they enjoy the atmosphere. The thing is that there are thousands of people.

What can be done? I don’t know. I think the first thing that can be done is that if you get caught doing it; You get a year’s ban from coming to the races or something like that. If someone says something bad, just kick them out for a while,” said the McLaren driver.

It is certainly interesting to hear these particular comments made by the McLaren driver. His fellow drivers including Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton refused to condone such behavior and have asked the higher authorities to take stern action against such individuals.

Hopefully, he can clarify his comments so that fans can have a better understanding of his position on the situation.
