The recent news of Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen boycotting Sky Sports F1 has taken the Formula 1 world by storm. The current Champion team, as well as the driver, is boycotting one of the largest F1 broadcasters is no joke. While Red Bull says they have enough reasons for the boycott, Sky Sports are yet to find a solution to this. Amid all this, an ESPN F1 pundit revealed the reason for the recent media storm.

Nate Saunders, editor of ESPN on F1 has recently opened up on Red Bull, Sky Sports, and the entire controversy that dates back to the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Saunders, while being on The Last Lap podcast stated why Red Bull and Max Verstappen will not find it easy to forget what happened last year in the UAE.

Red Bull decided to boycott Sky Sports after Ted Kravitz stated that Lewis Hamilton was robbed publicly. Talking about what led to all of these, Saunders conveyed, “There’s always going to be that doubt around Max [Verstappen] but if you’re Red Bull [Fan and Crew], you’re just sick and tired of hearing it [Regarding the outcome of 2021 Abu Dhabi GP].”

“But I think as long as Christian Horner’s alive, as long as Max Is alive, as long as they’re doing media interviews, Abu Dhabi is going to be there,” further stated the ESPN journalist. What happened in 2021 Abu Dhabi GP still divides the F1 world into two halves. The recent Sky Sports controversy is one big example.

Saunders believes Max Verstappen deserves all the titles

While the F1 world might not fully agree with Max Verstappen being worthy of two F1 championships, Nate Saunders has his say fixed here. The ESPN Pundit is of the opinion that the Dutchman fully deserves both of the world titles he picked up in these two years.

Talking about this, Saunders continued, “Max, in my opinion, is massively worthy of two Championships, just the way he’s driven.” After the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix win, Verstappen managed to retain his F1 world title.

Interestingly, the statistics agree with Nate Saunders on this. The Red Bull star heavily outperformed all his rivals in the last two years. While Lewis Hamilton was quite close last year, nobody was near the Dutch speedster this time around.
