The car launch for AMR24 came with a lot of excitement and media attention. Many questions were asked during the launch and that is where Aston Martin Racing boss, Mike Krack, was asked the crucial question about Alonso’s future in AMR. At the launch event, one reporter asked, “You mentioned last year that you want to extend Fernando’s contract. Do you think this is more difficult now, given that Lewis is going to Ferrari and there is a cockpit available at Mercedes?”

This question was pointed towards the fact that Fernando’s contract has not been extended yet. To this, Krack stated, “Yeah, I think the silly season has started much earlier than we were anticipating. We knew that it was always going to be an exciting year with a lot of speculation.” He fortified the desire to keep Alonso in the team and stated, “But to be honest, we love Fernando. We have a very good relationship with Fernando. We have a relationship. He is an integral member of the team.”

Highlighting the relationship between the driver and the team, the AMR boss said, “We have a relationship that is based on trust and openness. And we would be delighted, honestly, to continue with Fernando into 25 years after and the years after.” Now, with one of the two parties ready for the partnership, things remain in the hands of Alonso to decide where he wants to race.

What is Fernando Alonso’s take on this?

As reported by MotorSport magazine, Fernando Alonso is still deciding if he will be racing in 2025. Earlier, the Spaniard had mentioned not driving past 41 and now that he is approaching 43 in July, he is left with the question about if he wants to continue.

Based on his last season, Alonso looked and felt confident. He stated, “If I want to keep racing, let’s see what the options are, my first priority will be always to sit down and discuss with Aston.” On the other hand, he has also mentioned that he is aware of being one of the three World Champions on the grid. That being said, he knows that being the only World Champion that is available, there is a chance that he might get into any team he wants.

Taking into account his 24-year-long career, Alonso also mentioned that he has been feeling good, and although that is the case, he did end by saying “I don’t know if I will be racing until 50.”

After such a long career, Alonso is still fighting for another World Championship. That being said, what do you think he will be doing after the 2024 season?
