The first-ever Dutch world champion, Max Verstappen, is going to his second home in Austria. The Red Bull man will race at the Red Bull Ring for the first time as the champion. Verstappen is the most successful Dutch driver in the sport’s history and he will get a worthy reception at Red Bull’s home.

According to sources, a massive 50,000 Dutch fans are expected to travel to Austria for the coming Grand Prix. 130,000 fans attended the previous edition of the Austrian GP. Keeping that in mind, the 2022 season’s race will host about 50,000 members of the Dutch ‘Orange Army’. The massive attendance will be a much welcome boost for the Dutchman who’s on course to his second world championship.

Rest assured, the fans will paint the stands with orange color to show their support. The Austrian GP will feature the second sprint race of the calendar, which translates to two races during the same weekend. This prospect will make the trip down to Spielberg, Austria worth the effort.

However, this is still Red Bull’s home Grand Prix and we can expect a bigger turnout at the Dutch GP in September. And revenge for the booing at Silverstone might be a possibility from the fans, even in Spielberg.

2022 British GP is a good example of the F1’s newfound popularity converting into higher attendance as it hosted about 400,000 fans, compared to last year’s 356,000. The Australian GP hosted a massive 419,114 fans over the weekend as well.
